Artist Bio

Enrolled Kaigani Haida, Tommy comes from  the Yaagw'laanaas Clan, Raven/Double Finn Killer whale on his mother's side and Coast Salish(Katzie)/FIlipino(Ilocano) on his father's side.  Born and raised in South Seattle, WA, he is what you would consider an "URBAN NATIVE."   He earned his degree from the Univeristy of Washington, where he studied traditional Northwest Coastal Formline Art, taking several classes taught by the late  Marvin Oliver.  He spent 15 years working in his community helping Native American Youth around the state of Washington.  In 2018, he decided to pursue art as a full-time profession.  The Haida people are known as fierce warriors and master artist's/craftsmen(women).  That spirit lives on through CreNative Designz!

Aside from art, Tommy provides workshops in the following areas:

  • Higher education/Career Prep

  • Title XI, Native Education, consultation

  • Cultural or Mixed race identity

  • Negative impact of "Indian" Mascots

  • Native American History
